Osinbajo, Saraki, Atiku others lauds Super Eagles’s victory against Iceland

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Senate President Bukola Saraki have joined Nigerians to congratulate the Super Eagles on their first victory at the Russia 2018 World Cup.

The Eagles secured a crucial 2-0 win over Iceland on Friday evening after the Icelanders missed a penalty, losing their chances of forcing Nigeria to a draw.

Super Eagles striker, Ahmed Musa scored Nigeria’s first goal of 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia against debutant Iceland.

Ahmed Musa has scored each of Nigeria’s last three World Cup goals, with this goal meaning he is the highest goalscorer at World Cup tournaments for the Super Eagles.

Francis Uzoho is the second youngest goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in World Cup history, older only than Li Chan-Myong (19y 198d) who famously shut-out Italy in 1966.

 

Besides Professor Osinbajo and Dr Saraki, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, are among other Nigerians that commended the Super Eagles.
