A 32-year-old man, Ibrahim Danjuma, has been hacked to death at Atako village in Kuje Area Council of Abuja.
A resident of the community, Shuaibu Aday, said the incident happened around 5pm on Saturday after the deceased who went out in search of his cattle was found dead inside a farm a few meters away from the village.
He said the suspected gunmen shot at the victim but that as the bullet could not penetrate him, they tied him up and hacked him with a machete.
“At about 6pm when he did not return, his family members followed him and discovered his corpse dismembered with machete inside a pit at the farm,” he said.
He said the deceased, who reared sheep and cattle at the community, usually released them to feed at the bush and herded them back home in the evening.
He said the corpse of the deceased had been buried according to Islamic rites.
The spokesperson of the FCT police command, DSP Adeh Josephine, did not reply to a text message sent to her on the incident.
