12-year-old girl jumps from storey building to avoid rape by master

A 12-year-old unidentified house girl, on Thursday, landed herself in hospital after jumping down from a storey building to escape being raped by her master.

Though the details of the incident which took place in Ifite, Awka area of Anambra State, are still sketchy, an Anambra-based broadcaster, Mrs Ify Unachukwu, who posted the incident on her Facebook page, called for help for the young girl who is said to be in critical condition presently.

Information has it that the girl fractured her leg while trying to escape being raped.

Unachukwu wrote: “12 year old house-help jumps down the window of a storey building to escape rape by her ‘Oga.’ She sustained fracture of her leg bone (tibia). Now moved from Climax Specialist Hospital, Awka, to COOUTH Amaku.”

Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, has confirmed the arrest of the culprit.

He said the suspect was making a statement as at the time of filing this report, assuring that he would make available, the details of the incident to the media once it was ready.

“The suspect is in custody and investigation has begun,” Ikenga added.
