Eight more aspirants have stepped down for Mr. Peter Mbah in the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primary election in Enugu State.
The aspirants made the announcement individually at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, venue of the primary election.
They include: Abraham Onyishi, Tochukwu Ude, Erasmus Anike, Nwabueze Ugwu, Rev. Ralph Nwoye, Prof. Jehu Nnaji, Beloved Dan Anike and Gabriel Ajah.
According to them, their decision was a mark of respect to the decision of the party leadership.
Chairman of the Election Committee, Senator Ambuno Zik Sunday disclosed that with their withdrawal, the number of aspirants still in the race has now been reduced to nine.
Result of the votes cast by 764 accredited delegates from the 17 local government areas in the state were being counted by the national electoral panel by the time of this report.
Mr Peter Mbah is clearly leading n the election going by the votes cast so far.
