DSS arrests suspected gunrunners, kidnappers

The Department of State Services, DSS,  Thursday affirmed that Mohammed Aminu and Dare Okunwola (aka Boda) were arrested for alleged gun running.

The duo were reportedly napped at Lere and Agindi council areas of Jos and Kaduna states respectively.

DSS spokesman, Peter F. Afunanya disclosed this in a statement and added, “On October 30, at  Sainyinan Dani, Yabo council area of Sokoto State, that Abubakar Umar and Suleiman Sani were also arrested for gun running.

When OKunwola’s  residence was searched,  it was learnt that items recovered are eight AK-47 rifles.

Also, at Toungo area of Adamawa State, Abbas Abubakar  (aka Sambo) a suspected Improvised Explosives Device (IED) expert for the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA) was apprehended.

Afunanya further revealed that between October 11-12, suspected armed bandits operating in and around Zamfara State were also arrested in Bakura, Tsafe and Bungudu council areas of the State. And those arrested were Dan-Alhaji DAN-MINERI, Yusuf KHALIF and MUSA (Mallam).

Suspected cultists also arrested include Yakubu Mohammed and Joseph Andoaasin while Otu Ekong (Akwa Ibom), Abdulhamid Isa, Adamu Adagiri and Nuhu Ahmed, Isa Ahmadu, Suleiman Umar among others were arrested for alleged kidnapping in Kogi,  Edo, Kaduna and Zamfara states respectively.

It would be recalled that the DSS in a joint operation with the military had arrested suspected abductors and killers of the traditional ruler of Adara Chiefdom, HRH Maiwada GALADIMA.
