Eid-el-Maulud: Buhari, Saraki, Ugwuanyi, Okowa, others felicitate with Muslims

• Calls for prayers, unity ahead 2019

President Muhammadu Buhari has felicitated with Nigerians and Muslims, at home and abroad, on Eid-El-Maulud, birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
 
 
In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari reiterated that “the country is making great progress under the All Progressive Congress (APC)-led federal government in dealing with issues of security, the war against corruption, reform and restructuring of the economy and the provision of needed infrastructure” and added that the country needs the support and prayers of all citizens.
 
 
He also asked for prayers for the nation for a peaceful elections  in 2019. 
 
 
Also, Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, urged Nigerians to use the opportunity of the Prophet birthday celebration to show love to one another and imbibe the virtues of perseverance and restraint.
 
 
In a message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, Saraki congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the birthday of the Holy Prophet and said that “the occasion should inspire Nigerians to renew their belief in the Almighty Allah  and the country.”
 
 
His deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, called for “prayers for peaceful 2019 general election” and charged politicians to “play by the rules and highest democratic ethos.”
 
 
 
From Enugu, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi called on all Nigerians to remain prayerful and committed in their abiding faith in God for the sustenance of peace, unity and progress of the country.
 
 
The governor felicitated with President Muhammadu Buhari and other Muslim faithful, and noted that the occasion is another opportunity to continue to uphold the deeds and teachings of the Holy Prophet, which border on faith, sacrifice, obedience, love, tolerance, charity and peaceful co-existence, among others.
 
 
On his part, Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, in Asaba, yesterday,  enjoined Nigerians, and Deltans especially Muslims to use the celebration as a period of sober reflection and pray for the peace and unity of the country especially as we are entering an election year.
 
 
Also, in a statement by the  National Publicity Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Kalla Lanre Issa-Onilu, advised Nigerians, especially Muslims, to be wary of empty promises and antics of some politicians ahead of the 2019 general elections.
