A former Minister of Health and member, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Professor A.B.C Nwosu has expressed surprise at the postponement of the Presidential and National Assemblyl elections, saying the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has many questions to answer.

Nwosu, who said that he was completely bewildered and upset by the development,  chided the INEC Chairman for postponing the election without minding the expenses and inconveniences to voters.

He said: "I am completely bewildered and upset considering the fact that the Chairman of INEC announced the dates of these elections in 2017 including the dates of subsequent elections up to 2027.

"Further, he had confirmed on the Osasu Show that he was so ready that postponement was out of question.  He then proceeded to postpone the election on the Election Day without minding the expenses and the inconveniences caused to voters and giving a simple reason of logistics.

"One wonders whether the printed matter comprising sensitive and non-sensitive electoral documents were not ready and who the contractors were that did not deliver.

"There are too many questions especially after Mr. President had made his broadcast two days to the election.  Why didn’t they postpone it earlier when these were clear to them?  These questions they need to clear in the interest of free and credible elections.

"It is curious that most electoral materials were there without result sheets so people refused the movement of these materials to local governments without result sheets.  The Chairman of INEC has to explain various stories surrounding nonavailability of result sheets in many states."

He, however,  urged the electorate "to ignore the shenanigans of the government and INEC in this traumatic postponement and come out on the new dates to cast their votes and express their desire for good governance."

"It is only by so doing that they can end the impunity and enthrone good governance in Nigeria," he added.
