Maverick musician and showbiz guru, Charles Oputa, alias Charly Boy is unfazed by the allegation heaped on him by his colleague in the Ourmumudondomovement, Deji Adeyanju, who accused him of selling out on the group, that fashions itself as fighting for the public interest.
The acclaimed Area Fada, admitted that he actually collected a huge amount of money from the Federal Government representatives, through the spokesman of the President Muhammadu Buhari presidential campaigns, in the last election, Festus Keyamo.
He however, explained that the money, which he said ran into nine figures, was not any sort of bribe to team up with the President, or a sell-out, but payment for his professional work, contrary to Adeyanju's claim.
Adeyanju, who was being detained at that time over a criminal case he was being charged with by the government, accused the entertainer of being a turncoat, by collecting bribe from the same government he claimed he was fighting against.
Charly Boy, in a video that is already in the public domain, laughed off the allegation, saying the bone of contention was actually that the human rights activist wanted to collect part of the money paid to him for the said work, a situation which he said he was not averse to.
Hear him: ”When Keyamo came to discuss Deji’s matter, he heard my new song that I was working on where I was dissing Atiku. So when he heard the song, he was calculating what he can use the song for.”
“I don’t care but if you want to use my work, you pay for it. Of course he paid for it and they paid heavy money, in eight to nine digits. Everybody wanted a part of that money including Deji”
