Enugu police nab two over electric transformer vandalism,recover exhibits

Operatives of the Enugu state police command  have arrested two notorious electric transformer vandals responsible for throwing some communities in Udi local government area into darkness. 

The suspects, according to the command's spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu, were identified as one Jude Chibuoke and Chigozie Egwuonwu.

He said that they (suspects)were allegedly involved in nefarious activities ranging from vandalization of electric transformer components such as cable uprisers to other criminal acts within Udi area and its environs.

The power cable vandalism  has kept residents of some rural communities in total darkness for several months as replacement of stolen equipment  is usually very difficult owing to the high cost. 

Amaraizu said the suspects were apprehended within Umumba axis of Ezeagu local government area of the state with the exhibits while trying to make their way to Onitsha, Anambra state.

"Further intelligence gathered revealed that suspect Jude Chibuoke is a notorious electric transformer vandal, who specializes on targeting isolated community transformers without power supply and vandalizing their components and uprisers and taken same to his standby buyers just as Chigozie Egwuonwu assists to convey him and the exhibits with motorcycle.

"The state Commissioner of Police, Suleiman Bakarabe has directed a full scale investigations into the unfortunate incident with a view to unmasking more suspects involved in the alleged unwholesome act," he added. 

Amaraizu stated that the suspects were already helping the operatives of the command  in their investigations.
