The Enugu State Government has charged security agencies in the state to fish out and prosecute those behind the murder of a grand mother, Mrs Pat Ngwu in a farmland at Nchatancha, Emene area of Enugu on Wednesday.

The corpse of the deceased woman was recovered from a bush near a stream within the Nchatancha community Thursday morning following her abduction from her cassava farm by unknown bandits Wednesday evening.

Her remains were deposited at the Annunciation hospital mortuary Emene, Enugu on Thursday.

The incident sparked off a violent protest by youths in Emene who vowed to revenge the killing, which they blamed on the unrestricted activities of fulani herdsmen in the area.

In an official reaction by the state government signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Simon Ortuanya, the government condemned in its entirety the killing of the woman and orderd a full scale investigation into the incident.

The statement reads: "The Enugu State Government condemns in its entirety the alleged murder of a woman in a farmland at Nchatancha community in Emene, Enugu East Local Government Area.

"We condole with the family of the deceased and hereby charge the security agencies to commence a full scale investigation into the unfortunate incident with a view to apprehending and prosecuting the culprits."
