A three storey building under construction collapsed in Enugu on Sunday but no life was lost in the incident.

It however caused panic among the residents of the area as many took to their heels following loud noise heard when the structure came down.

It was gathered that there was no one in the structure when it collapsed.

The building situated at Ezeluike Street, Olympic Layout, off One Day, Agbani Road, Awkunanaw, Enugu South LGA had reportedly been marked for demolition for being defective.

It collapsed before the state government could carry out the demolition.

Chief Fire Officer Enugu State, Engr Ohaa Okwudili who visited the scene of the incident, expressed gratitude to God that no life was lost.

“It is instructive that the building had been marked for demolition. I learnt it would have been pulled down last week if not for the lockdown,” he said.
