The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known via its Twitter handle on Wednesday.

The NCDC also announced that no fewer than 200 patients have died of coronavirus-related complications in the country.

It said, “On the 20th of May 2020, 284 new confirmed cases and eight deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

“No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, no fewer than 97 patients recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours in the country.

The NCDC, however, apologised for committing an error in its announcement on Monday, May 18.

The centre tweeted, “On the 18th of May, eight new cases in Zamfara were erroneously announced. Therefore, as at the 20th of May 2020, Zamfara has recorded a total of 76 confirmed cases.

“We apologise to Zamfara State Government for this error and reiterate our commitment to accurate and transparent reporting of data.”
