Today, Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) celebrates the Chairman, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, an iconic estate manager and politician, whose meteoric rise into eminence and accomplishments as a politician both within our dear Enugu and beyond is nothing short of a testament to his unbending and unbendable sense of discipline, uncompromising honesty, deep sympathy and willpower.

Nnamdi Azikiwe was no doubt right when he remarked in Renascent Africa that ‘politics is the game of youth’. Ikeje Asogwa cut his teeth in politics as early as 1993 as the co-ordinator of the corporate wing of MKO Abiola’s HOPE ’93. By his early thirties he had already blossomed into a politician of note.

All thanks to his wisdom, deep patriotism, and bounding energy. An estate manager and fellow of the Charted Institute of Personnel Administrators, he transformed a comatose Enugu State Housing Development Corporation (ESHDC) into the most sought-after and viable parastatal in the State.

In fact, Sullivan Chime was so amazed about Ikeje’s enormous achievements as MD/CEO of ESHDC that he branded him a ‘shining star’ and nick-named him a ‘magician’.

Ikeje was the Enugu State PDP Chairman from 2014 to 2016, and helped Rt. Hon. Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi wade through challenges and sail to victory at a most acrimonious time in the politics of the State.

A versatile man at home in any job now in the driving seat of ENSUBEB, Ikeje is once again at his best. ENSUBEB that was once an obscure, out-of the-way parastatal has taken the centre stage in the Government of Enugu State, attracting funds, executing projects and topping all this up with a very vigorous supervision of awarded projects.

With Ikeje the issue of abandoned projects that used to over-burden ENSUBEB is now a thing of the past, with Ikeje ENSUBEB has become one of the greatest selling-points of the Government of Rt. Hon. Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, with Ikeje primary and junior secondary schools across the State have become a brand.

We, the board members of ENSUBEB, are proud of you, Chief Ikeje Asogwa. You are a hero, a man of destiny, a patriot, a model, a reformer, an innovator; you are a sterling example of a public-spirited public servant.

You embody hard work, honesty, and integrity; you balance humanity and discipline.

Psalm 91 vs 16 says, ‘I will satisfy him with a full life’. Our prayer for you today and always is that the One On High will make your life full, healthy and long. Amen.

BRAVO  Great Leader!

Many many Congratulations on your birthday Dimkpa.

Dr. Hyginus Eze

Board Secretary ENSUBEB
