Adams Oshiomhole
The Peoples Democratic party on Monday dragged the former national Chairman of the All Progressives Congestion (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to what it dubbed on Monday to the court of public opinion over his educational certificates.
The party in a challenge has asked him to present his Primary Six School Leaving Certificate to the public if he went to school.
The Chairman of PDP Campaign Council for Edo Governorship election, Chief Dan Orbih disclosed this on Monday while addressing party members and supporters in (Ward 5) Ososo and (Ward 10) Dangbala, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.
Orbih also urged Oshiomhole, former Governor of Edo State to disclose to Nigerians the cause of quarrel with his successor, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State whom he described as a worthy Alumnus of Nigeria premier University of Ibadan (UI).
“They said Governor Godwin Obaseki who graduated from University of Ibadan has a Certificate. I made bold to say that I challenge Adams Oshiomhole to show us his primary six Certificate.
He urged Oshiomhole to “allow Edo people to decide who governs them…In four years, Godwin Obaseki has done more than what Oshiomhole did in Eight years”.
On his part, the PDP Candidate for the September 19, Governorship election in Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki announced that the construction of the 12.75km Ososo-Okpella road which was abandoned by previous administration, will begin before the end of the year.
The incumbent Governor who highlighted his achievements, said that he secured the commitment from the Chairman of the BOA cement Plc, Mr who promised to undertake the project.
Obaseki also disclosed his Government plans to carryout maintenance work at the Ojirami Dam established by the administration of late Brig. General Samuel Ogbemudia (Rted) towards addressing acute water supply in the rural areas.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Hon. Philip Shaibu, urged the youths to shun electoral violence and resist attempt by maverick politicians who may wish to induce them to undermine the sanctity of the ballot during the election.
He however, urged the electorate to support the policies of the incumbent Governor by voting for PDP and defend their votes in the election.
According to him, “Do not accept any arms from them. If anyone wants to lure you to carry arm against yourself, tell that person to call his Children abroad and give it to them and fight for them”.
...Obaseki laments APC Naira rain on his Aides
Meanwhile, Governor Godwin Obaseki has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC of raining money on his aides to coerce the defection of his appointees.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, the governor dismissed as inconsequential, the recent defection of few political appointees and other members of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement, Osagie said the defection is easily traced to the monetised campaign of the opposition who, having realised that they are on the backfoot, are buying the souls of persons within government to boost the morale of their ebbing supporters.
According to him, “It is important to state that the recent defection of political appointees is not uncommon during elections, especially when the opposition wants to play mind game. They are inconsequential. But I assure you that Edo people are seeing through the façade.
They are inconsequential. But I assure you that Edo people are seeing through the façade.
“In a government with over 800 aides spanning different structures from the Local Government Areas (LGAs) to the state level, the resignation of few persons after we have moved to a new political party is quite insignificant. So, they are inconsequential in the scheme of things.
“We are very confident that Edo people are with us in this fight. Some people may be battle weary and decide to jump ship. We hold no grudge against them. But, for this election and for the battle against the godfather that we have sworn to fight on behalf of the people, they may only count for collateral damage. We are undeterred.”
He noted that the government is even more fired up to work for the benefit of Edo people as persons who had worked as moles for the opposition are showing their true colours and creating the space for genuine supporters of the governor to get the opportunity to work for the state’s development.
