An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure has sentenced a man, Blessing Kingsley, to life imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old girl.

Following the rape, the victim was said to have been infected with Hepatitis B by the convict.

Kingsley, a tricycle operator, was arrested by the men of the Ondo State Police Command after committing the offence on July 12, 2018, in Ondo town.

The convict was said to have taken the victim to his house, where he forcefully had canal knowledge of her.

After the incident, a test was conducted on the victim, which revealed that she had been infected with Hepatitis B.

Kingsley was arraigned on one count of rape.

Delivering his judgment on Monday, Justice Bode Adegbehingbe, said the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Justice Adegbehingbe said the weight of evidence before the court proved that Kingsley was guilty of the offence and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
