One killed, scores injured as cultists invade Akwa Ibom’s anti-cult prayers

One person was feared dead and score injured as cultists invaded a solemn assembly in Inen community of the OrukAnam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State on Saturday.

The invaders reportedly stormed the council hall on Saturday and disrupted the assembly which was held to ask for God’s intervention into cult related killings in the LGA.

It was gathered that the gunmen invaded the hall while prayers session were in progress, killing one person simply identified as Ufot and beating up others.

Eyewitnesses said that the cultists regroup the following Sunday and laid ambush against residents of Ikot Obio Idang village.

“They beat up a trader, while members of Qua Iboe Church and Apostolic Church ran away from the churches.

The state Police Public Relations Officer Nnunan Frederick, said the command had yet to be informed of the incident.
