PDP S-East elects leaders, Ali Odefa emerges National Vice Chairman

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South East zone has elected a new leadership to pilot the affairs of the party for the next 4 years.

Acting chairman of the party, Chief Ali Odefa emerged the new South East zonal Chairman of PDP, having scored the highest number of votes.

Chief Odefa was elected by zonal PDP delegates at the weekend during the PDP zonal Elective Congress at Okpara Square, Enugu State.

Other elected zonal officers include Zonal secretary, Chief Ugwu James, Treasurer, Engr. Emeka Okeke, Financial secretary, Casmir Ugwu, Zonal organising secretary, Micheal Ahumebe, Publicity Secretary, Engr. Augustine Elechukwu, Zonal Auditor, Laz Ogbee among others.

Chairman of the electoral planning committee, Dr. Ibrahim Umar who declared the election result, urged elected members to deliver the party in all elective position.

Presenting his speech on behalf of the elected members, Chief Odefa, expressed joy for electing him to serve as zonal chairman, stressing that they would take the affairs of the party serious and take it to the next level.

He assured to recover every place the party had lost in the past, stressing that they would take over Anambra state by November 2021.

“I am happy today that the same place I was humiliated last five year is the place I was humbled. I contested for the position and lost. Today I am elected. My promise today is that I shall strive hard to make sure together with my colleagues to put the party interest first before any other interest. We shall treat all men equally, we shall not be biased in all activities”, He said.

Speaking immediately after casting his vote, the Senator representing Ebonyi Central, Senator Obinna Ogba commended the organisers for conducting a peaceful election.

“The election was very interesting. It’s like the election we had in Port Harcourt. People are freely expressing their right to vote. The election was done to the glaring of people and nobody will complain about this election. We thank the organisers for organising a free, fair and credible election”, he said.

While reacting to a question, how the decamp of Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi would effect PDP in Ebonyi state, said that they lost the governor not the people. He said that the people of Ebonyi state are still with PDP, stressing that PDP would win Ebonyi state in the next election.

He wished Gov. Umahi well in APC, praying that he would get whatever he want to get in APC and they would also get theirs in PDP.

“We lost the governor but didn’t lose the people. The governor is our governor and he is just one person. The people are still with us”, He said.

Those who attended the Enugu congress includes; Leader of the PDP in the zone and Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Ude Okochukwu, the PDP National Organising Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu, the National Youth Leader, Rt. Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye, fomer Governors of Ebonyi, Anambra, Imo states, Senator Sam Egwu, Peter Obi and Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha respectively, National and State Assembly members from the zone, Barr. Olisa Metu, Chris Ubah, and other esteemed leaders of the party in the zone, including the new returnee in Anambra State, Hon. Tony Nwoye, and many others.
