Mary Daniel, the amputee pure water hawker, rescued from the streets of Lagos, has transformed speedily into a beauty queen and may soon become a social media sensation to boot.

She was captured looking smashing in different well-tailored attires and flashing dazzling set of teeth as she marked her 27th birthday, displaying on social a completely different image from the desolate and harassed destitute, to a sensational beauty in a photoshoot.

Daniel, mother of one, was rescued from the Lagos traffic along Oshodi by kind Nigerians after her image first appeared in the social media apparently struggling with the elements due to condition.

Further stories of her life, including how one of her legs was amputated when she was just 11, a failed relationship in which her lover left her with her baby and an aged grandmother, forcing her to move into the traffic to find a means of living instead of starving to death alongside her dependants, stirred the ever-pliant hearts of many Nigerians.

Soon, donations started pouring in to change her life, even though she resolved not to beg on the streets, even if it meant hawking bottled water on the ever-busy and dangerous traffic, this time the Oshodi highway, one of Lagos’ busiest spots.

At the last count, she was transformed from a mere pauper, barely able to feed on her meagre income to a millionaire, as a whopping N14million was garnered in her name, to appreciate the efforts she made and to encourage others in her condition.

The images have however drawn mixed reactions from commentators, ranging from happiness, caution to apprehension, even though the new 27th birthday, look was said to have come also from a kind Nigerian who gave her the photoshoot, complete with professional makeup and styling to mark her new age.

Apparently believing that she might derail and spend her money on vanities, some of the respondents, are cautioning her to stay the cause and not forget where she was coming from, urging her to spend wisely, while others believe that she should give herself some treat, which had been missing in her life, even for once.
