President Muhammadu Buhari has endorsed the recommendation of Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi for an Administrative Panel of Inquiry to probe the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

Special Assistant to the president on Media, Garba Shehu made the announcement Thursday night in a statement.

The President also approved that the Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman step aside while the investigation is carried out.

Mohammed Koko, the Executive Director of Finance and Administration will act in the position. The 52-year- old, a former banker, is from Kebbi State.

The panel is to be headed by the Director, Maritime Services, Transport Ministry, while the Deputy Director, Legal of the same ministry will serve as Secretary.

Other members of the panel will be appointed by the Minister, the statement added.

Reports said the suspension might not be unconnected with an alleged feud between Amaechi and Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

But a source said the development could be sanction for certain infractions committed by the NPA management and reported to the President.
