Wife of Niger State Governor, Dr Amina Abubakar Bello has explained that the water project owned by her organisation, Raise Foundation is not for profit-making.

She said the water project is one of the intervention programmes of the non-governmental organisation (NGO) which she founded.

In a statement signed by her Press Secretary, Rabi Sarkin Bello, the Governor’s wife stated that the money generated from the project goes towards maintaining the borehole and water services, empowering the youth who drive the tankers and interventions such as the VVF surgical repairs, maternal health programme, skill acquisition and treatment for cancer patients which her Foundation provides.

“This is not a profit-making business and all the money generated goes towards these three arms of the project,” the statement said.

She further explained that the project is called the Water for Education Project, adding that it would also provide potable water for girls in the school to improve their attendance and retention in schools as most girls do the chores of fetching water in the house.
