Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers on Wednesday evening attacked a bullion van in Ondo State.

The incident occurred at Emure-Ile junction, along Owo-Akure highway in Owo Local Government Area of the state.

However, the bullion was said to be empty after it was forced open by the robbers.

The bullion van, which was said to belong to a commercial bank in Owo, was attacked by the gunmen while it was in motion.

One of the policemen escorting the bullion van was also said to have been shot by the robbers.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson of the state Police Command, DSP Funmilayo Odunlami, said the policeman was recuperating in the hospital.

The incident occurred less than a month after a bullion attack was foiled by police in the state.
