Nollywood veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu, who was re-arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS after he was released by the police for wearing Biafra regalia at Onitsha, Anambra State last week, might have been moved to Abuja.

A source close to the actor disclosed that the actor was moved to Abuja on Saturday but this could not be confirmed by press time Monday.

However, some members of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) confided that they were told when they visited the DSS office in Enugu that the embattled actor had been moved to Abuja.

The reason for the transfer was not disclosed to them, a member said.

As learnt, some officials of AGN had planned to visit the DSS office in Abuja on Monday to follow up on their efforts to secure the release of the actor.

Chiwetalu Agu was arrested by the Nigerian Army on Thursday in Onitsha after soldiers accosted him at Upper Iweka where he was sharing bread to members of the public wearing a cloth made in Biafra colours.

He was later taken to the 82 Division headquarters in Enugu where he was held overnight before being released to Nollywood actor, Steve Eboh.

However, the joy was soon cut short as he was reportedly re-arrested by the DSS operatives who have since held him in custody.

The agency is yet to issue an official statement on the actor’s arrest.
