Enugu CSDA General Manager not sacked - Govt House Source

The General Manager, Enugu State Agency for Community and Social Development, CSDA, Mr. ThankGod Onoja has not been sacked as speculated by the Board of the Agency, a source in Government House Enugu has revealed.

The Government House source who was reacting to the purported sack of the General Manager of Enugu CSDA by its board, went on to say that it is only the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government who has the powers to sack the General Manager if he is found wanting in his duty.

He disclosed that the board is on the General Manager’s neck because he refused to submit to their request for them to tamper with the funds of the Agency.

According to him, “the appointment letter of the General Manager of Enugu State Agency for Community and Social Development was signed and issued to him by the Secretary to the Government of Enugu State at the discretion of the Governor of Enugu State and it is through the same process that he can be sacked.

He condemned the gruesome act of the Board of the Agency who instead of following due process went on to hire social media bloggers to wash their dirty linen publicly, which is an act of disrespect to the Governor and the Government of Enugu State.

“Even if all the allegations the Board levelled against the General Manager is anything to go by, they don’t have the right to claim that they have sacked him, rather they can only recommend his sack to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government who will investigate the allegations and act where necessary.

“The Board members have shown outright disregard for the Governor of Enugu State by their unfortunate action and the Governor should not allow such nonchalant attitude to be part of the system.

“If this is the way other boards operate, it means that the government agencies will not be working because they will be sacking their General Managers’ or Managing Directors’ at random.” he queried.

Meanwhile, a staff of the Enugu CSDA who refused his name on print said that one of the board members (name withheld) is the one who has been bragging that he will use the media to tarnish the image of the General Manager. He disclosed that the said member decided to connive with his colleagues to attack the General Manager because of their differences.

“This is the same thing he and other board members did to the out-gone General Managers and they are here again with the plot to sack the new GM who has not done anything wrong.

“The General Manager is not up to one year in office and there is nothing that he has done that will warrant all these squabbles which the Board is championing that is damaging the image of the agency at large,” the staff added.
