Hoodlums suspected to be unknown gunmen have warned that Monday sit–at–home persists in Anambra State, saying that anybody propagating that the evil thing has stopped would pay dearly with their lives.

The warning was written in several papers and scattered in an uncovered dirty casket on which was placed a freshly severed human head.

They also warned Anambra Governor-elect, Charles Soludo, saying: “Soludo, be warned’, Presidents–General and traditional rulers, we will visit you,” among others.

The hoodlums also warned Nnobi residents for allegedly not obeying the sit-at-home order and market masters in Anambra, threatening to deal with them over the collection of levies in the Afor Nnobi market and other markets in the state. They also left some phone numbers for those who would want the information to contact them.

The coffin was placed at Nnobi Junction Roundabout, and laid beside it was the lifeless body of their victim, a motorcycle operator in the area, while the head was identified as that of a suya fryer at Ichida Junction beheaded same Thursday night.

Sources said the unknown gunmen arrived Nnobi at 10:15 Thursday night, November 25, in three Hilux vehicles, divided themselves along Nkpor, Nnewi, Awka-Etiti and Nnokwa axis of the junction and started shooting sporadicallyinto the air.

It was gathered that the gunmen beat up some passengers on motorcycles and injured others, shouting as they drove about the town, saying that sit-at-home continues Monday and threatened to deal with anybody saying otherwise.

The discovery of the coffin, the corpse and the severed head on Friday morning threw the town into confusion and caused a stampede at the Afor Market which starts early in the morning and caused traffic gridlock at the junction.

The corpse and the severed head were removed by an ambulance from Fatima Hospital, Awka-Etiti, at 7:45 a.m. while some onlookers put fire on the coffin containing the warning papers. (Saturday Independent)
